A sanitary sewer overflow occurred on August 10, 2025, at N25 W27675 Prospect Avenue in the City of Pewaukee. The incident took place between approximately 1:30 PM and 4:00 PM.

According to the Lake Pewaukee Sanitary District, the overflow was caused by a combination of heavy rainfall, elevated lake and stream levels, and power outages. These conditions led to an increased amount of inflow into the sanitary system.

The district stated that its sewer department was present at the site during the event. "The sewer department was on site monitoring the lift stations, taking all necessary steps to limit any public health hazards or potential harmful effects on the environment," according to the press release.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been notified about the incident. The press release was issued in accordance with NR210 requirements.

Residents are advised to ensure that sump pumps are not connected to the sanitary sewer system, as this can help reduce flow amounts during similar events.

For further information, residents can contact Thomas H. Koepp, Manager at Lake Pewaukee Sanitary District, at (262) 691-4485.
