The cost of pasta at the local Pick 'N Save grocery stores across Wisconsin has increased by 224% since President Joe Biden's (D) Inauguration Day in 2021.
That’s according to an analysis of Pick 'N Save grocery ads by the Waukesha Time.
A 10-16 oz. box of Creamette pasta at the supermarket chain cost $0.49 in Jan. 2021, which is $1.10 less than the $1.59 cost for a 16 oz. box of the same pasta as of September 4, 2024.
The analysis also found a 172% price increase for pops like Pepsi and 7-up, a 152% increase in the price of canned soups, and a 123% increase in the price of frozen potatoes.
Those numbers outpace the supposed 2.2% inflation rate for food for the last year, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Wisconsin has seen an above average rise in inflation since January of 2021, according to a report from The Sconi. Since the beginning of the Biden-Harris administration, the cost of goods and services have increased 20.5% in the state, above the national average rate of 20.2%.
Pick 'N Save operates 82 stores across the state of Wisconsin, with a total of thirteen stores throughout Waukesha County. There are two locations in the city of Waukesha, two locations in Pewaukee, and four locations throughout Brookfield.
Pick 'N Save grocery stores fall under the Kroger organization, having been absorbed into the parent company during a 2015 merger. The Pick 'N Save banner can only be found on stores located within the state of Wisconsin.
