Muskego Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 20.
Muskego Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a fresh look and format to its popular street event, Jammin’ on Janesville. The event is scheduled Friday, June 3, 2022, 5 to 9 p.m.
“Jammin’ on Janesville has grown in attendance and enthusiasm over the past decade,” Executive Director Krisann Durnford explains. “When 2022 planning began, we knew it was the year to take it to the next level. With new branding, extra safety measures, and dedicated business members, we expect this year to be the best it’s ever been. Our goal is to foster interaction between businesses and the community while allowing Muskego’s beautiful street and neighborly attitude to shine.”
Event planning brought about a welcome change–the ability to close a portion of Janesville Road and move the festivities into the street. The Chamber worked with Muskego Police Chief Stephen Westphal, City of Muskego Mayor Rick Petfalski, and Waukesha County Supervisor Keith Hammitt to explore the possibility of closing four blocks along Janesville Road between Baylane and Lannon Drives. The road closure ensures Muskego will continue to have a fun, safe, family-oriented event.
Jammin’ on Janesville begins 5 p.m. on the first Friday of June; however, road closure begins at 3 p.m. and reopens at 11 p.m. The community is encouraged to view the Jammin’ on Janesville information for a street map of vendor/business activities and detour information at www.muskego.org.
A variety of food selections, soda, beer, wine, and live music will be available among the street vendors and at restaurant locations along the route. Kids’ activities include inflatables, face painting, yard games, paint area, mini carnival, hula hoop dance, and plenty of giveaways or prizes. Jammin’ attendees can try their hand at Crazy Ball, Spin A Wheel, Plinko, and various demonstrations/challenges or visit the motorcycle bike demo, robot demonstrations, and silent auction. Fun activities include the 3-point basketball shoot contest or tossing a baseball to drop a police officer into the dunk tank. Several businesses will be raising funds for Muskego Police/K9 Unit and Town of Norway Police. Tess Corners Firefighters will raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Association with the annual Fill the Boot campaign.
