Waukesha Public Schools is introducing the Waukesha One Family Learning Series, a new initiative aimed at helping families navigate technology use at home as part of the district’s 1:1 iPad program. The program provides each student with an iPad, offering tools for learning and creativity.
The district recognizes that when students bring these devices home, parents may have questions or concerns about their use. In response, the series will include in-person evening sessions and on-demand video resources focused on topics such as supporting student learning with technology, online safety management, and encouraging healthy digital habits.
Session topics will cover the Waukesha One program’s approach to supporting learning, using online safety tools like Securly, setting screen time limits, building digital routines at home, and how students use educational apps including Book Creator, Notability, and Clips. The sessions will also address strategies for promoting digital wellbeing and balance in a technology-rich environment.
“All sessions will be held at the Blair Administration Building, 301 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. Registration is not required,” according to the announcement from Waukesha Public Schools.
The goal of the series is to foster understanding between families and schools on making technology meaningful and manageable for every student.
