The new bill authored by State Rep. Robyn Vining seeks to establish a grant program to increase the hiring of school mental health professionals from racial minority groups, according to the Wisconsin State Assembly.

In essence, this bill requires the Department of Public Instruction to establish and manage a grant program for school districts to hire school mental health professionals from racial minority groups. The bill allocates $5 million for each of the 2025-26 and 2026-27 fiscal years for these grants.
