Congressman Scott Fitzgerald from Wisconsin's 5th District released a statement regarding the Senate's approval of an amendment to H.R. 1, also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
In his statement, Fitzgerald highlighted that "just in time for the Fourth of July, we’re sending the final version of the One Big Beautiful Bill to President Trump’s desk and delivering on the conservative agenda we promised the American people."
He emphasized that the bill represents a significant victory for working families by offering substantial tax relief. According to Fitzgerald, it "delivers historic tax relief by boosting take-home pay, making the Trump Tax Cuts permanent, giving seniors eligible for Social Security tax relief, increasing the child tax credit, and protecting family farms from the death tax." The bill also aims to benefit workers by eliminating taxes on tips and overtime.
Fitzgerald noted that another component of this legislation is restoring integrity to Medicaid by curbing fraud and abuse while safeguarding benefits for vulnerable populations. Additionally, he stated that it "fully funds President Trump’s border wall and increases staffing for ICE and Border Patrol," which he believes will enhance law enforcement at the southern border.
Concluding his statement, Fitzgerald remarked on how this legislative move prioritizes American needs: "From putting more money in the pockets of hard-working Americans to making our national security a top priority, this legislation puts the needs of Americans first." He expressed pride in supporting this measure from its inception and anticipates President Trump's endorsement.
