Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Wisconsin’s 5th district, has recently shared his views on federal privacy requirements and historical commemorations through a series of tweets.
On June 6, 2025, Rep. Fitzgerald expressed concerns regarding potential legislative changes affecting financial institutions. He stated that "Credit unions and community banks are already subject to strict federal privacy requirements. Adding a federal private right of action would trigger a wave of abusive class-action lawsuits, hurting smaller community-based financial institutions and the members they serve."
Later that day, he paid tribute to the bravery of Allied soldiers during World War II's D-Day invasion. He tweeted: "81 years ago today, Allied soldiers showed unmatched courage on the beaches of Normandy. Their bravery in the face of unthinkable danger reminds us that freedom isn’t free—and it must always be defended. Thank you to the heroes of D-Day."
On June 9, 2025, Rep. Fitzgerald directed his followers to additional content with a brief message: "Read more here " linking to further information.
