There were 59,411 students enrolled in Waukesha County school districts in the 2023-24 school year, 1.4% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

The county's data showed that 12th grade had the biggest classes with 5,188 students, while pre-kindergarten saw the smallest enrollment that year with just 3,000 students.

Countywide, Waukesha School District welcomed the most students during the 2023-24 school year.

Nearly 850,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.
