Mrs. Cavanaugh from Wales Elementary has motivated a Friendsgiving initiative called Santa in a Shoe Box. This effort saw schools collaborate to prepare shoe boxes containing essential clothing items such as hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, and socks. The boxes also included some fun items like toys, art supplies, or puzzles. These gifts are being delivered to students at WD Williams Elementary School in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

The students at WD Williams Elementary were severely affected by recent natural disasters including hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding. Many of them lost everything they had. The school district consists of 450 students across four elementary schools. Through this initiative, KM provided 494 boxes, surpassing the requirement.

"These students were terribly impacted by the recent hurricane, tornados, and flooding," Mrs. Cavanaugh stated regarding the situation faced by the children.
