Mrs. Weske has been working as an international mountain guide since 2012. Her employer also runs a non-profit organization that supports children, adults, and families facing special needs or significant medical challenges. She has contributed to building an orphanage, a medical and dental clinic, and a women's support center.

In 2022, they collaborated with the nonprofit Hope to Walk to establish a Prosthetic Center in Arusha, Tanzania. Inspired by this initiative, Mrs. Weske introduced their mission to her Healthy & Active Lifestyles students through a virtual 5K fundraiser. The students raised $750 this year, which is enough to provide three individuals with prosthetic limbs.

Many amputees around the world rely on wheelchairs and crutches due to the high cost of commercial prosthetics, which range from $10,000 to $25,000. Hope To Walk offers locally produced prosthetic legs for just $250 using available materials. This initiative provides an opportunity for young learners to engage in global health efforts while making a tangible impact.

"Millions of amputees worldwide depend on wheelchairs and crutches, or even crawling," stated Mrs. Weske about the importance of affordable prosthetics.
