Dan Buran, a member of the original graduating class of Brookfield East in 1964, has seen his family benefit from Elmbrook’s educational opportunities through the generations. Reflecting on his time at the school, Buran expressed his gratitude for the education he received and the support he had, stating, "I appreciated the valuable education I got and the great counselors I had."
After graduating, Buran pursued further education at Milwaukee Area Technical College and UW-Whitewater before starting a career at companies like Cutler Hammer and Miller Brewing Company. Despite retiring, he continued to be involved in the community, coaching his daughters' sports and supporting his wife, Sue, in her work as a Teacher's Assistant in the Elmbrook School District.
Today, Buran and Sue are actively involved in supporting their grandchildren's educational journey in Elmbrook, attending robotics events and football games. Buran commended the ongoing improvements in the Elmbrook Schools, saying, "The Elmbrook Schools continue to improve, and it is amazing to see all of the opportunities available to students." He added, "This great school system has helped three generations of my family succeed and we're very grateful to be part of this community."
Their story showcases a deep-rooted connection to the Elmbrook community and a commitment to supporting future generations in their pursuit of education and success.
