WASHINGTON, DC – In a statement released today, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) expressed his disappointment after a continuing resolution (CR) was passed in the House of Representatives without providing additional resources to secure the southern border.

Since President Biden assumed office, concerns about border security have escalated. Congress has been receiving daily reports from border patrol and reading alarming accounts of the worsening situation. In response, Rep. Fitzgerald voted in favor of a CR that aimed to address these issues by allocating much-needed resources to secure the southern border.

"Unfortunately, that CR failed with not a single Democrat voting in support of the resolution and a solution to address the crisis," said Rep. Fitzgerald. He emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for bipartisan cooperation to find a resolution.

The House of Representatives was left with no choice but to present a CR without additional resources to secure the border, a proposal that Rep. Fitzgerald could not support. He expressed his commitment to working with his colleagues in the coming weeks to pass the remaining appropriations bills and restore order to the southern border.

As concerns about border security continue to mount, Rep. Fitzgerald's call for action highlights the need for a comprehensive approach to address the crisis and ensure the safety and security of the American people.
