WASHINGTON, DC – On April 20, House Republicans passed H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, to protect female athletes and the integrity of women's sports.

This legislation protects female athletes' right to an even playing field in sporting events by ensuring athletic departments follow Title IX rules requiring the recognition of biological sex as determined by a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth.

Democrats have aggressively pushed an agenda to allow transgender athletes to compete against athletes not of their same biological sex. House Republicans recognize that cases in which biological males wish to compete against females presents an unfair advantage and diminishes the hard work of female athletes.

“Female athletes have been abandoned by those on the Left seeking to allow biological males to compete in women's divisions, said Congressman Scott Fitzgerald. This extreme agenda puts hardworking female athletes at a disadvantage and risks denying them of scholarships, awards, and other athletic opportunities despite their hard work. I'm proud to stand up for all the women and girls in sports across this country by supporting this legislation."
