City of Pewaukee recently issued the following announcement on September 16.
Fall Hydrant Flushing – September 20 to October 22
Fall hydrant flushing will take place on weekdays from September 20 to October 22 between 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The city flushes all hydrants twice a year, in spring and fall. This is done to check for proper operation of the hydrants and for proper pressure and flow.
The flushing removes sediment from the pipes in order to maintain water clarity and water quality in the distribution system.
Please note, water discoloration may occur during flushing. This is normal. Your water is safe to drink during and after flushing. If discoloration occurs, run your cold water tap for a few minutes until the water clears. To prevent staining, avoid doing laundry during scheduled flushing times.
