Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Wisconsin's 5th district, shared several updates on social media recently. Fitzgerald has been in Congress since 2021 after replacing Jim Sensenbrenner and previously served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1995 to 2021.
On May 13, 2025, Fitzgerald recognized National Police Week by expressing gratitude towards law enforcement officers. He stated, "This #NationalPoliceWeek, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the brave men and women who serve in law enforcement." He emphasized that these officers put their lives at risk daily to ensure community safety.
Later that day, he invited constituents to participate in a Telephone Town Hall meeting. In his post on May 13, he said: "Please join me for tonight’s Telephone Town Hall! Looking forward to speaking with constituents about all the pressing issues facing WI-05." The event aimed to address various concerns within his district.
On May 14, Fitzgerald raised questions regarding medical education during a hearing. He posted: "Today’s hearing asks a simple question: Will the next generation of physicians train in a free market or under a government‑sanctioned monopoly?" This inquiry focused on whether medical residency programs should operate independently or remain under organizations like the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
