The Kettle Moraine School District has been recognized for its excellence in financial reporting, receiving the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) award for the 28th consecutive year. This accolade is given to school districts that produce high-quality Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR), emphasizing transparency and quality financial information.
Kettle Moraine's Finance Manager, Jeremy Struss, leads the preparation of the ACFR report with support from the business office and district leadership team. The district is notable for being the only one in Wisconsin to receive this honor, a distinction achieved by only about four percent of school districts nationwide.
The ACFR serves multiple purposes: it demonstrates commitment to transparent stewardship of public funds and seeks to improve financial reporting through feedback from school finance professionals and certified public accountants across the country. Additionally, credit-rating agencies consider the annual ACFR when maintaining Kettle Moraine's ratings with Standard & Poor's and Moody's. These ratings are crucial as they help secure favorable financing for district initiatives.
