WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued a statement following House Speaker Mike Johnson's announcement that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would soon visit the Capitol to deliver a joint address to Congress.
"I'm pleased to hear Speaker Johnson confirm that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to deliver a joint address to Congress. When I was in Israel earlier this year I asked the prime minister myself if he would come speak to Congress, to which he said he would. I also sent a letter with 50 of my colleagues earlier this year urging the Speaker to invite the prime minister to give an address. I believe it is of the utmost importance that members of Congress receive an update on Israel's fight against Hamas and mission to bring home the hostages—some of whom are U.S. citizens," said Rep. Fitzgerald.
