Mask requirements and visitation restrictions

Maskmandate

ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on March 15.

ProHealth recognizes how important visitors are for the well-being of patients. We follow science-based recommendations in setting our visitor policy. We want to ensure a safe environment and limit the spread of COVID-19.

Masks

Medical-grade masks must be worn at all times by employees and everyone else who enters a ProHealth location. Acceptable options are surgical masks and N95 or KN95 masks. These masks are more effective than cloth face coverings in preventing the spread of the virus. If needed, surgical masks will be made available for patients and visitors.

Visitation

As the number of COVID-19 cases in our community declines, ProHealth Care has made visitation less restrictive. We are currently allowing two visitors per patient in our hospitals and emergency departments.

Some exceptions apply:

  • No visitors are allowed for patients who have COVID-19 or are suspected of having the virus.
  • One support person and a certified doula can accompany OB patients during labor.
  • Two parents or family members allowed in the neonatal intensive care units.
  • Up to three visitors allowed for patients at the end of life.
At our ProHealth Medical Group clinics, we will allow two family members or friends to accompany patients. Our cancer centers will allow one family member or friend to accompany patients.

All visitors or those accompanying a patient must be 18 or older, and all must wear a medical-grade mask at all times within a ProHealth location. Visitors and companions will be asked to self-screen at our entrances and to leave if they have a fever or other signs of illness.

Anyone who is feeling unwell should not visit a hospital or other health care facility unless it is to seek care.

Family members can also connect with hospitalized patients by phone or through video applications. Hospital staff can make tablets available to patients as needed.
