ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Dec. 28
ProHealth recognizes how important visitors are for the well-being of patients. Currently, as the COVID-19 virus spreads rapidly in our community and the number of hospitalized patients increases, it is necessary for us to limit visitation. We do this to protect patients, other visitors and health care workers. Our goal is to limit the spread of the virus and to make sure we have the resources required to care for patients. We follow science-based recommendations in setting our visitor policy.
Anyone who is feeling unwell should not visit a hospital or other health care facility unless it is to seek care. All visitors and companions need to wear masks, must be 18 or older and will be screened or need to self-screen at facility entrances.
Hospitals
Two visitors are allowed per patient at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital and ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. Two parents or guardians will be allowed to visit patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Because children may not be able to be vaccinated or may be unable to follow safety guidelines, they are not allowed to visit hospital patients. As with other visitor limits, the goal is to protect other visitors, patients and health care workers, and limit the spread of viruses.
Visitors will not be allowed for patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and for those who are suspected of having the virus. The high transmission rate of the virus puts visitors and health care workers at risk of getting sick and further spreading the virus.
Clinics and urgent care centers
ProHealth Medical Group clinics will allow two family members or friends to accompany patients.
Cancer centers
The cancer centers will allow one companion per patient.
