Statement on Waukesha Holiday Parade incident from WCTC President Dr. Richard Barnhouse

9

Waukesha County Technical College recently issued the following announcement.

Like many, I am shocked, saddened, and heartbroken by the tragic incident at yesterday’s Waukesha Holiday Parade. What should be a time of joy and gratitude and welcoming in the holiday season will now be a moment that has changed and altered the lives of many families in our community.

I feel deep sorrow for all of those who lost their lives or loved ones and those who were injured last night. For those who were witnesses to this tragedy, I cannot imagine how they must feel today. I share my deepest sympathies to all of those affected by these horrific acts.

Over the coming days and weeks, our College will continue to provide support to the WCTC family. At a time like this, it is impossible to understand the magnitude of such a trauma for our community and their families and friends who have been closely impacted by this senseless act of violence.

Thank you to all of our first responders and members of the community who immediately jumped into action to help others. Furthermore, I am incredibly grateful to our faculty, staff, and students who selflessly rendered aid last night.

It is more important than ever to be there for one another. Let us be reminded of the vital role we all play in serving each other.
