Cost of college went up for all students at Waukesha County Technical College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.5 percent for 2018-19 at Waukesha County Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Wisconsin residents paid $4,405 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $65 more than the $4,340 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 42.4 percent more than residents this year, or $6,271. Their price tag grew 1 percent from $6,206 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Wisconsin residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 58 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 105 students received grants or scholarships totaling $440,275 and 74 students took out student loans totaling more than $407,922.

Including all undergraduates (7,961), 1,677 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.9 million, and 1,405 students took out $8.8 million in federal student loans.
