The number of patients in Wisconsin hospitals with confirmed cases of COVID-19 fell again Wednesday, to the lowest point since April 2.
According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, 247 currently hospitalized patients had tested positive for the coronavirus, down from more than 400 at the beginning of June, and 28 fewer than were reported Tuesday.
Another 182 hospital inpatients were awaiting coronavirus test results Wednesday.
Of those with known cases, 93 were in intensive care. State health officials reported nine more deaths because of the virus Wednesday, bringing the pandemic's toll to 712.
The Department of Health Services also announced 256 new positive tests out of nearly 9,700, a percent positive rate of 2.6%. The state's cumulative test positivity rate has fallen from a high of over 9% in early May to about 5%.
