Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, U.S. Congressman representing Wisconsin’s 5th district, shared updates on recent visits and legislative priorities in a series of social media posts this week.
On April 14, Fitzgerald posted about his visit to the Chicago Federal Home Loan Bank, stating: “It was great to visit the Chicago Federal Home Loan Bank to discuss their role in providing funds to our local banks and credit unions—providing critical resources to Wisconsin families and businesses.”
The following day, April 15, Fitzgerald highlighted Tax Day and recent tax policy changes: “Today is Tax Day, and Wisconsinites are seeing the benefits of lower taxes this year! I was proud to join my @HouseGOP colleagues in supporting the Working Families Tax Cuts, focused on helping hardworking Americans keep more of what they earn: Bigger refunds (up nearly 11%,”
On April 16, he addressed concerns over sports broadcasting costs for consumers: “Sports fans are paying hundreds of dollars a year across multiple platforms just to watch their favorite teams. This fragmentation harms consumers. Everybody wants the NFL to succeed. The question is whether these deals violate antitrust law.”
Scott Fitzgerald has represented Wisconsin’s 5th district since 2021 after succeeding Jim Sensenbrenner. He previously served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1995 to 2021. Fitzgerald was born in Chicago in 1963 and resides in Clyman. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985.
In previous elections, Fitzgerald won re-election by significant margins: defeating Mike Van Someren in 2022 with over 64% of the vote and Tom Palzewicz in 2020 with over 60%.
