On Saturday, March 14, Matt Schmainda—a former standout at Brookfield East High School—led his current team, the Michigan Tech Huskies, to an 83-73 victory over the Lake Erie Storm in the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament.

The contest, held at Alumni Arena at 12 p.m., marked the Huskies’ first meeting with Lake Erie in the tournament.

Michigan Tech is set to play its next tournament game at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 15, again at Alumni Arena.
