Scott Fitzgerald, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Wisconsin’s 5th district, shared several legislative updates on June 4, 2025. The congressman has been a member of Congress since replacing Jim Sensenbrenner in 2021 and previously served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1995 to 2021.

In a tweet posted at 14:02 UTC, Fitzgerald announced the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act by House Republicans. He stated that this legislation reaffirms their commitment to protect America’s family farmers by preventing the death tax from impacting nearly two million farms and safeguarding generational livelihoods.

Later, at 18:46 UTC, Fitzgerald commented on Ivy League endowments. He highlighted that Harvard’s endowment exceeded $50 billion as of 2023, surpassing the GDP of 120 nations. He pointed out that six out of eight Ivy League schools have endowments over $10 billion and suggested these institutions should compete to offer better products at more competitive prices.

Finally, at 22:15 UTC, Fitzgerald expressed pride in voting for the SUPPORT Act, which had just passed the House. He emphasized its importance for communities across Wisconsin affected by the opioid epidemic, noting that it renews key programs to combat addiction, crack down on fentanyl, and support recovery efforts aiding people reentering society.

Scott Fitzgerald was born in Chicago in 1963 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985. He currently resides in Clyman.
