Franciscan Woods operates as a non-profit facility.

In that timeframe, the facility was assigned an overall CMS rating of 2, which is below Wisconsin’s state nursing home average of 3.0. CMS ratings assess nursing homes based on factors including outcomes of health inspections, adequacy of staffing, and resident care quality.

The report states that during the first quarter of 2026, Franciscan Woods served an average of 63.7 residents per day and had a total of 110 beds. The facility is currently not affiliated with any hospital.

Reported expenditures for Franciscan Woods in the first quarter of 2026 included one fine totaling $118,144 and three penalties.

Altogether, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, had nine non-profit nursing facilities.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate that the older adult population in the country keeps rising as numbers for younger age groups decrease. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under 18 fell by 1.7%. The nation’s older population has seen significant growth in the past 100 years, jumping from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 analysis notes that about half of adults in this age group, some 28 million people, are expected to need long-term care services, with the study projecting more than a third will ultimately require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
