FOIA Request to Waukesha County Treasurer Regarding Property Tax Records 2024 – Present on May 12, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Waukesha Times have submitted a formal request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law. We are seeking access to property tax records for properties within Waukesha County for the year 2024 and any available data for 2025. Specifically, we have requested information including Parcel ID, Year, Tax Value, and Assessed Value.
This request is made in pursuit of transparency and accountability from public institutions. As members of the media, it is crucial for us to have access to such public records to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this access will enable us to hold governmental bodies accountable and provide necessary transparency to the public.
In addition, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news. Our role in disseminating information aligns with the principles of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
We await a response from the Waukesha County Treasurer’s office and are prepared to address any questions they may have regarding our request.
