A joint team will begin a Preliminary Damage Assessment in Waukesha County on August 21, 2025. The group includes representatives from FEMA, Wisconsin Emergency Management, the Small Business Administration, and Waukesha County. City of Brookfield officials will participate as their schedules allow.

The team plans to go door-to-door to check home damage that has already been reported to Wisconsin Emergency Management and FEMA. This process is required before federal disaster assistance can be approved.

Officials clarified that residents who do not receive a visit from the assessment team are not automatically excluded from future aid programs. Updates about available federal assistance for local residents will be provided as soon as more information is available.
