Residents in Waukesha County who experienced flood damage are being asked to report it by calling 211 or 877-947-2211, or by submitting information online. This process helps the county track storm damage and may assist in qualifying for federal disaster assistance from FEMA. The extent of reported property losses will be used to estimate overall damages.
Officials have stated that it is not yet clear if or when FEMA assistance will become available. Residents can also use the 211 service for information and resources related to cleanup efforts.
The City of Brookfield’s recycle center will return to regular hours starting September 1, operating from 1 pm to 7 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturdays. After August 30, the center will no longer accept flood debris; only regular recycling materials will be accepted. Flood debris should be placed out for normal trash collection if residents have five containers or fewer. Larger items damaged by flooding must be disposed of separately, either through arrangements with GFL at (262) 367-6040 or other disposal options.
Waukesha County has set up a dashboard with details about damage assessment efforts across municipalities, which can be filtered by location.
The American Red Cross is offering financial assistance to individuals affected by recent floods. Information about contacting the Red Cross and their assistance programs is available through provided links.

“It is important to have all damage reported as estimates of losses and/or the extent of property damage may help Waukesha County qualify for Federal disaster assistance from FEMA to assist residents with recovery from the floods,” officials said in a statement. “At this time it is not known when or if FEMA will be providing assistance.”
“211 can also assist with information or resources to assist with cleanup,” officials added.
